Wizz Air Launches New Yerevan Base, Adding Eight Routes to Europe
Wizz Air has officially launched a new base at Yerevan Zvartnots International Airport (EVN), enhancing services for Armenia’s capital city.
As an ultra-low-cost carrier, Wizz Air will station two Airbus A321neo aircraft at this new Armenian base. Approximately 50 pilots and crew members will work there, with the airline anticipating an additional 800 direct and indirect job opportunities stemming from this expansion.
The inauguration of the new base coincided with the beginning of flights to Naples (NAP), Italy, on October 1, 2025. Following this launch, additional routes from Yerevan will roll out throughout October, including destinations like Bari (BRI) in Italy, Bucharest-Otopeni (OTP) in Romania, Hamburg (HAM) and Memmingen (FMM) in Germany, Paris Beauvais (BVA) and Nice (NCE) in France, Paphos (PFO) in Cyprus, and Prague (PRG) in the Czech Republic.
In exciting news, the service to Dortmund (DTM) will be increased to four flights per week, up from the previous two.
However, Wizz Air will be discontinuing its services to Sofia (SOF), Bulgaria, effective October 26, 2025. Additionally, as of September 2025, the airline ceased operating its nonstop route to Abu Dhabi (AUH) due to the closure of its subsidiary in the United Arab Emirates to refocus on primary European markets.
On September 30, 2025, Wizz Air also commenced operations at Gyumri Shirak Airport (LWM), which serves as a dual-use military and civilian airport near Yerevan. The airline offers a twice-weekly service between Gyumri and Larnaca (LCA) in Cyprus.
Overall, Wizz Air aims to conclude the year by transporting around 1.2 million passengers to and from Armenia.
