Uruguay may soon establish its national airline, Sociedad Uruguaya de Aviación (SUA), as announced at the Fitur travel trade show in Madrid. The airline plans to operate Airbus A220 aircraft, wet-leased from airBaltic, marking their debut in Latin America. Initial plans include a fleet of six A220s within 18 months, expanding to ten aircraft in three years, along with a maintenance center for the A220. Founded by Antonio Rama, SUA seeks to fill the gap left by past carriers and enhance local air travel.
