Qantas Airways has launched its inaugural flights from Darwin to Singapore, starting March 30, 2025. Pilot Sues Air India Over Delta 777-200LR Oxygen Shortage
The Bombay High Court has ordered the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to investigate Air India’s Boeing 777-200LR emergency oxygen systems, highlighting safety concerns for flights between India and the US. The investigation focuses on the aircraft’s emergency oxygen supply, which provides only 12 minutes of oxygen per passenger, potentially inadequate for descents in mountainous regions. A senior pilot raised alarms about this safety gap, leading to regulatory scrutiny. Despite ongoing operations, the court is assessing whether Air India’s leased Boeing 777s can safely conduct emergency descents within the limited oxygen timeframe.
IndiGo Plans New MRO Facility at Bengaluru for A350 Arrival
IndiGo has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bangalore International Airport Ltd to establish a new Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility at Kempegowda International Airport, covering 31 acres. This facility will support IndiGo’s expanding fleet, particularly with the upcoming Airbus A350. Ton Dortmans from KLM has been appointed to lead these initiatives. The MRO aims to enhance operational efficiency and localize services as part of IndiGo’s strategy to expand its network. The airline has over 400 aircraft in operation and more than 900 on order, with plans for direct flights to Europe beginning in 2025.
