FLY91 Launches Direct Flights from Solapur to Mumbai and Goa: Enhancing Regional Connectivity
FLY91 (IC), India’s latest regional airline based in Goa, has made headlines with its announcement of new direct flight routes connecting Solapur (SSE), Maharashtra, to Mumbai (BOM) and Goa (GOX). These strategic routes are designed to significantly improve last-mile air connectivity for tier-two and tier-three towns across India, making travel more accessible for residents and businesses alike.
Solapur, known for its rich textile industry and as a pilgrimage hub, will now enjoy direct air links to Mumbai, the country’s bustling commercial capital, and Goa, a popular tourist destination. This development is set to transform travel options for Solapur residents while promoting greater economic activity in the region.
FLY91 Expands Its Network with New Solapur Flights
The introduction of the Goa-Solapur and Mumbai-Solapur routes marks an exciting expansion for FLY91, raising its total domestic destinations to nine. Operations on these new routes will commence on December 23, with ticket sales expected to begin soon. Travelers can look forward to a reliable and efficient transportation option that connects these key regions.
FLY91 is committed to enhancing regional connectivity, aligning with the Union Aviation Ministry’s UDAN scheme, which aims to improve air travel options in underserved areas. "FLY91 is proud to introduce these new direct routes, making it the only airline offering direct connectivity between Mumbai and Solapur," said Manoj Chacko, Managing Director and CEO of FLY91. He emphasized the importance of Solapur as both an industrial and pilgrimage center, stating that connecting it to Goa will provide a convenient gateway for tourism.
Boosting Trade and Tourism
The new routes are anticipated to have a positive impact on trade and tourism, providing improved connectivity for travelers in Solapur and its surrounding areas. FLY91’s operations from Goa’s Manohar International Airport currently connect various cities, including Mumbai, Pune, Jalgaon, Sindhudurg, Solapur, Agatti (Lakshadweep), Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. Since its launch on March 24, 2024, FLY91 has been actively expanding its network to enhance regional accessibility.
On October 27, 2024, FLY91 also introduced daily flights on the Pune-Goa and Pune-Jalgaon routes to meet increased travel demand during the Diwali season. This move is expected to cater to a diverse range of passengers, including students and leisure travelers, as well as participants in meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE).
FLY91’s Fleet Expansion Plans
With a focus on strengthening its presence in the regional aviation market, FLY91 plans to triple its fleet by the end of fiscal year 2025, expanding from two to six ATR aircraft. This fleet expansion is part of the airline’s growth strategy aimed at enhancing connectivity and increasing flight frequencies across its network.
In an interview with CNBC-TV18, Manoj Chacko detailed the airline’s plans, confirming that two additional aircraft will join the fleet in the coming months, with a total of six expected to be operational by the end of the financial year. FLY91 is committed to providing efficient and reliable connectivity to regional destinations, leveraging the government’s UDAN scheme to foster regional air travel.
Chacko also called for improved collaboration between the government and Indian banks to better recognize aircraft as valuable assets, which would support the airline’s ambitious growth plans.
Conclusion
FLY91’s new direct routes from Solapur to Mumbai and Goa are a significant step toward enhancing regional air connectivity in India. This expansion not only facilitates easier travel for residents but also bolsters trade and tourism in the region. As the airline continues to grow its network and fleet, it is well-positioned to meet the rising demand for air travel in underserved areas.
