Gulf Air Announces Summer 2025 Flight Changes to India

Gulf Air Optimizes India Flight Network for Summer 2025: Key Changes Ahead

Gulf Air (GF), the national airline of Bahrain, is making significant adjustments to its India flight network as it prepares for the summer 2025 season. These changes reflect the airline’s commitment to enhancing operational efficiency and meeting passenger demand in key Indian markets. As part of this strategy, Gulf Air is both reducing flights on certain routes and expanding services on others.

Gulf Air’s Flight Adjustments in India

Gulf Air’s recent modifications to its India flight network are aimed at better aligning with traveler preferences, particularly in southern Indian cities. According to The Indian Aviation Guy on Twitter, the changes will impact four Indian destinations, with some cities experiencing reduced flight frequencies while others see an increase.

Flight Reductions to Kozhikode and Kochi

  • Kozhikode (CCJ): Gulf Air will cease operations to Kozhikode, also known as Calicut, with the final flight scheduled for March 28, 2025. Currently, the airline operates four weekly flights to this coastal city in Kerala, competing directly with Air India Express (AIX), which also offers four flights per week. The decision to discontinue service to Kozhikode raises questions, especially considering the high demand for travel from Kerala to the Gulf region.

  • Kochi (COK): Starting April 6, 2025, Gulf Air will reduce its flight frequency to Kochi from four times a week to three. Air India Express currently operates six flights a week on this route, adding to the competitive landscape.

Increased Capacity for Goa and Bengaluru

  • Goa Dabolim (GOI): In a positive shift, Gulf Air will increase its service to Goa from four flights per week to daily operations. This change highlights the growing travel demand for this popular tourist destination, where Gulf Air faces no direct competition.

  • Bengaluru (BLR): Gulf Air plans to double its capacity in Bengaluru, introducing a second daily flight starting March 31, 2025. Initially, there were plans to reduce flights to six times a week, but the airline has opted to enhance its presence at one of India’s major airports, responding to significant demand.

Looking Ahead: Gulf Air’s Expansion Plans

Gulf Air has recently expanded its network in Europe with new flights to Athens and Munich in 2024, and it seems poised for further growth in 2025. The airline’s focus on connecting passengers, especially in key markets like Bengaluru, indicates a strategic shift that could lead to more changes in its India network in the future.

As Gulf Air continues to refine its operations, it will be interesting to see how these adjustments influence passenger experience and the airline’s competitive position.
