Commencing on June 5, 2025, this seasonal service will operate three times a week, enhancing travel options for those looking to explore the historic charm of Italy’s capital.
Cathay Pacific’s New Service to Rome
The introduction of direct flights from Hong Kong to Rome marks an important milestone for Cathay Pacific. This new route complements the airline’s existing five weekly flights to Milan, which will transition to daily service this summer. With Rome as its second Italian destination, Cathay Pacific is reaffirming its commitment to strengthening European connectivity.

Lavinia Lau, Cathay Pacific’s Chief Customer and Commercial Officer, highlighted the airline’s historical ties to Italy, which began back in 1986 when direct flights to Rome were first established. “We know our customers have been eagerly anticipating the return of this route, and we are delighted to be returning to Italy’s marvelous capital this summer,” she stated.

Passengers on the new Rome service will travel on Cathay Pacific’s modern Airbus A350-900 aircraft, which offers a variety of seating options tailored to different travel needs:

- Premium Economy: Providing spacious seating for enhanced relaxation.
- Economy Class: Designed for budget-conscious travelers with comfortable cabins.
Cathay Pacific’s Vision for the Future
Cathay Pacific is dedicated to reinforcing Hong Kong’s position as a global aviation hub. In 2025, the airline plans to connect six additional cities, including Hyderabad in March, Dallas in April, Munich in June, and Brussels in August. Meanwhile, its low-cost carrier, HK Express, is set to launch flights to Sendai in January.
By the end of the year, the Cathay Group aims to operate passenger services to 100 destinations worldwide, leveraging Hong Kong as a gateway to the Asia-Pacific region. This includes 19 routes to the Chinese Mainland operated by both Cathay Pacific and HK Express.
