Japan Airlines Unveils Exciting Summer 2025 Network Expansion and Fleet Modernization Plans

Tokyo, Japan – Japan Airlines (JL) has announced its ambitious network expansion and fleet modernization strategies as part of its fiscal year 2025 summer schedule. One of the key highlights of Japan Airlines’ summer schedule is the launch of the Tokyo Narita (NRT)-Chicago (ORD) route, set to commence on May 31, 2025. This strategic addition strengthens the airline’s North American network, improving connections between Southeast Asia, India, and North America. The new service will operate under a codeshare agreement with American Airlines, with flights arriving in Chicago at 15:45 and departing at 12:10 from September 1 to October 25, 2025.

• New International Routes: Japan Transocean Air will make its international debut with a new Naha-Taipei route, tapping into the growing inbound tourism demand. Specific launch dates for this service will be announced within fiscal year 2025.

• Increased Frequencies: To meet high market demand, Japan Airlines will enhance flight frequencies on several routes. The Narita-San Diego and Narita-Bengaluru routes will operate daily from March 30 to October 25, while the Kansai-Los Angeles, Kansai-Honolulu, and Chubu-Honolulu routes will also upgrade to daily service from July 18 to October 25. Additionally, the Narita-Honolulu service will double to twice-daily operations throughout July 2025.

• Fleet Modernization: The airline will introduce the Airbus A350-1000 on the Haneda-Paris route starting May 1, 2025, initially running on alternate days. This modern aircraft will also expand to the Los Angeles route during the summer schedule, with specific dates to be announced.

• Premium Service Expansion: Japan Airlines will introduce JAL First Class on the Tokyo Haneda-Miyako route, available exclusively on select aircraft equipped with first-class cabins. Ticket sales will commence on January 22, 2025, at 10:00 AM, though some services may have limitations at Miyako Airport.
