Turkish Airlines Launches Daily A350 Flights to SYD via KL
Turkish Airlines Expands Service to Sydney: Daily Flights Coming Soon
Turkish Airlines is set to enhance its international presence by increasing flights from Istanbul Airport (IST) to Sydney Kingsford Smith International Airport (SYD). The airline will transition to a daily service using its state-of-the-art Airbus A350-900, marking a significant development in connecting Turkey and Australia. This expansion comes just months after the airline celebrated its inaugural flight to Sydney, which commenced on November 28, 2024.
Incremental Flight Increases Throughout 2025
As part of its strategic expansion plan, Turkish Airlines will gradually boost its Sydney services over the next two years. Here’s a breakdown of the planned increases:
- Current Schedule: Four weekly flights
- Mid-June 2025: Increase to five weekly flights
- End of October 2025: Transition to six weekly flights
- January 12, 2026: Full implementation of daily flights
Initially, these flights will operate via Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL). However, Turkish Airlines has indicated plans to shift to a non-stop route by 2026, contingent upon aircraft delivery schedules.
A Boost for Tourism and Business
Greg Botham, Group Executive of Aviation Growth and Group Strategy at Sydney Airport, commented on the expansion, stating, “Turkish Airlines’ decision to ramp up to daily services so soon after launching in Sydney is a tremendous vote of confidence in the strength of the market.” He emphasized that this development will enhance connectivity for both business and leisure travelers between Australia and Turkey.
Botham further noted, “This expansion confirms Sydney Airport as Turkish Airlines’ leading gateway in Australia, reinforcing our position as the country’s premier international hub.” The prospect of a future non-stop service to Istanbul excites both the airport and potential travelers, promising a more seamless travel experience.
Looking Ahead: More Opportunities for Travelers
The increase in Turkish Airlines flights not only signifies growth for the airline but also represents a broader opportunity for tourism and business interactions between Australia and Turkey. As travelers seek more direct options, the planned non-stop service will further streamline connections.
