However, on March 24, 2025, the airline announced a delivery delay, as the aircraft remains with Airbus in Hamburg. Consequently, the start date for the London-Jeddah route has been postponed to April 10, 2025. This extension provides Wizz Air with an additional eleven days to prepare for the aircraft’s entry into service.

Temporary Solution with Airbus A321neo

Despite the delivery setback, Wizz Air assures travelers that the London-Jeddah route will still launch on March 31, 2025. The airline will operate the route initially using one of its Airbus A321neo aircraft. While the A321neo is similar in size to the A321XLR, it lacks the additional fuel tanks and modifications that enable the latter’s extended range.

Following the London-Jeddah route, the airline plans to launch additional services, including flights from Milan-Malpensa Airport (MXP) to Abu Dhabi Airport (AUH) starting June 2, 2025, and from Gatwick to Medina-Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport (MED) on August 1, 2025. Each Airbus A321XLR will accommodate 239 passengers in a high-density single-class layout.
