This new route, set to begin on March 31, 2025, marks a significant expansion in easyJet’s offerings, providing travelers with an exciting new destination off the west coast of Africa.
The new service will transport passengers from London Gatwick Airport (LGW) to Amílcar Cabral International Airport (SID). Spanning an impressive 2,700 miles (4,345 kilometers), this flight will take approximately five hours and 50 minutes each way, surpassing easyJet’s previous longest route from Manchester to Hurghada, Egypt, which was 2,580 miles (4,152 kilometers).

Ali Gayward, easyJet’s UK Country Manager, expressed enthusiasm about the new route, stating, "We know our customers are always looking for exciting new places to explore. Our flights and package holidays to Sal in Cape Verde offer the perfect combination of relaxation and adventure."
This inaugural service will operate three times a week—every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday—using the modern A320neo aircraft throughout the year.
Celebrating the Launch
To commemorate the launch, easyJet surprised passengers at the boarding gate with giveaways, including goodie bags filled with travel essentials like adaptors and travel bags. Upon arrival in Sal, travelers were welcomed with a festive ceremony featuring local musicians, enhancing the overall experience.
Jennifer Newman, Airline Relations Manager at London Gatwick, shared her excitement, stating that the airport is “delighted” to see easyJet introduce this new route to Cape Verde.

As easyJet continues to expand its network, the airline currently connects London Gatwick to numerous popular European cities, including Paris and Amsterdam, as well as leisure destinations like Spain, Italy, Tunisia, Turkey, and Egypt.
