Iberia Airlines Expands Long-Haul Network with New Orlando Route and Brazilian Destinations
Madrid, Spain – Iberia Airlines (IB) is making headlines this winter as it expands its long-haul network by introducing three new destinations, including the highly anticipated Orlando, Florida. Starting October 26, 2023, the Spanish carrier will operate four weekly flights to Orlando International Airport (MCO) using its Airbus A330 aircraft, accommodating up to 254 passengers. This strategic move will provide over 46,000 seats available throughout the winter season, making it a significant addition to Iberia’s offerings.
Iberia’s New Orlando Flights: What Travelers Need to Know
Orlando, a popular U.S. tourist hotspot, serves as the gateway to Central Florida’s world-famous theme parks, including Disney World and Universal Studios. Additionally, the city is home to Port Canaveral, a crucial hub for the space industry, and the Orange County Convention Center, a leading venue for global conferences and exhibitions.
Maria Jesús López Solás, Iberia’s Director of Sales, Customers, Network Development, and Alliances, expressed enthusiasm about the new route, noting, “We are excited to introduce these new routes next winter. Our partnership with Disney Destinations makes Orlando a standout choice for the Christmas season.”
Kevin J. Thibault, CEO of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, celebrated the introduction of Iberia’s non-stop Madrid service, stating, “This partnership reflects our ongoing effort to enhance global connections.”

Expanding Service to Brazil: New A321XLR Destinations
In addition to the Orlando route, Iberia is set to enhance its Brazilian network with new destinations, including Recife (REC) and Fortaleza (FOR). These routes will complement existing services to São Paulo (GRU) and Rio de Janeiro (GIG), with flights to Recife commencing on December 13, 2025, and Fortaleza on January 19, 2026.
Iberia will utilize its advanced A321XLR aircraft for these routes, which allow for greater fuel efficiency and extended range. This aircraft features the Airspace cabin and provides 182 seats across Business and Economy classes.
López Solás noted the growth potential in Brazil, stating, “With the A321XLR, we can explore new Atlantic routes and adjust our services based on demand.”

- Outbound Flight (IB149): Departing Madrid at 12:40 PM, arriving in Fortaleza at 5:30 PM
- Return Flight (IB150): Departing Fortaleza at 7:00 PM, arriving in Madrid at 6:45 AM the following day
