Akasa Air Expands Operations at Jewar and Navi Mumbai Airports
MUMBAI – Akasa Air (QP), India’s burgeoning airline, is set to position a significant number of aircraft at Jewar (DXN) and Navi Mumbai (NMI) airports as part of its ambitious expansion strategy. During a recent company town hall meeting, CEO Vinay Dube revealed plans to station 5-7 planes at each airport, enhancing connectivity and catering to growing passenger demand.
Akasa Air’s Strategic Airport Expansion
In an exciting development for the aviation industry, Akasa Air will be among the first tenants at both Jewar and Navi Mumbai airports, integrating them into the airline’s long-term growth framework. Dube emphasized, “We will be among the first tenants at both airports, and they will become our principal homes.”
Assuming timelines remain on track, the airline expects to have its aircraft stationed at both locations by the end of this year. The Navi Mumbai Airport is slated for inauguration in June, with operations anticipated to launch shortly thereafter. Meanwhile, Jewar Airport is awaiting its regulatory permit from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in May, although its official opening date is still pending.

Akasa Air is also confident in its aircraft delivery schedule, with the airline set to receive its 28th aircraft this month, aiming for a total of 30 aircraft by July. Following that, regular deliveries are expected to continue throughout the year, supporting the airline’s goal of expanding its international operations significantly. Akasa plans to increase its capacity on foreign routes from the current 18% to 40% in the coming years, marking a robust commitment to expanding beyond domestic markets.
