IndiGo Airlines Expands Its Reach: Three New International Routes to Gulf Countries
BENGALURU – IndiGo Airlines, India’s largest low-cost carrier (LCC), is expanding its international footprint in the Gulf region with the announcement of three new routes to Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. These new routes will commence in mid-June 2025, enhancing connectivity for travelers between India and the Gulf.
This expansion is a strategic move by IndiGo to strengthen its presence in the West Asia region, which is vital for its international operations. By launching direct flights to Bahrain and Oman, the airline aims to cater to the growing demand from passengers traveling between India and these key Gulf destinations.

IndiGo’s Expansion Strategy
IndiGo’s latest route announcements are part of a broader strategy to penetrate the GCC market more deeply. Recently, the airline also launched new services to Abu Dhabi from cities like Madurai, Bhubaneswar, and Visakhapatnam. This focused push aims to connect underserved Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities in India with key GCC hubs, particularly those with strong migrant and labor ties.
As competition intensifies in the India-Gulf sector, particularly with rivals like Air India Express also expanding their networks, IndiGo is well-positioned to capture the growing demand for air travel in this region.
