Vietjet Expands International Reach with New Airbus A330-900 Order
Vietnamese low-cost carrier Vietjet has made headlines by placing a significant order for 20 A330-900 widebody aircraft from Airbus. This strategic move aims to support the airline’s ambitious expansion plans over the next decade, enhancing its international network and flight offerings.
On May 26, 2025, Airbus announced the signing of this agreement in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. The contract was formalized by Vietjet Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao and Airbus International President Wouter van Wersch, with notable witnesses including French President Emmanuel Macron and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong during Macron’s official visit to Vietnam.

This latest order is set to bolster Vietjet’s expanding international presence. The A330-900 aircraft will enable the airline to increase its flight services across the Asia-Pacific region, as well as introduce new long-haul routes to Europe. Vietjet’s Growing Fleet and Future Plans
With this new order, Vietjet’s total firm orders for the A330neo have now reached 40 aircraft. Additionally, the airline has 96 A320neo Family single-aisle aircraft on order, demonstrating its commitment to modernizing its fleet.
Currently, Vietjet operates an all-Airbus fleet comprising 115 single-aisle A320 Family aircraft and seven A330-300s. The airline already provides international services to destinations including Australia, India, and Kazakhstan using its A330-300s.
