The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) has filed legal action against Rex Airlines in the Supreme Court of New South Wales for misleading conduct. ASIC alleges the airline failed to meet disclosure requirements, particularly regarding a misleading announcement about expected operating profits for fiscal year 2023. Despite incurring losses, Rex claimed optimism without a reasonable basis. Ryanair Plane Nearly Collides with Helicopter Near London
On March 8, 2024, a Ryanair Boeing 737 nearly collided with a helicopter while approaching Stansted Airport. The incident, involving 172 passengers and six crew members, was attributed to a cockpit communication failure; the co-pilot failed to inform the captain that the autopilot was disengaged, leading to a 550-foot unauthorized descent. The aircraft came within 300 feet vertically and 1.7 nautical miles horizontally of the helicopter.
