Qantas Expands Perth-Rome Flights in 2026 to Meet Rising Demand
Qantas has announced exciting improvements to its Rome services for 2026. The airline plans to extend its seasonal flights and add an additional weekly service, significantly increasing the capacity on this route.
In an official announcement made on September 2, 2025, Qantas revealed that it will stretch its Perth-Rome seasonal service by an additional eight weeks. This extension will operate from May 3 to October 23, 2026. Additionally, during the peak season from June 27 to September 26, 2026, the frequency of flights will rise from three to four per week.
Western Australia’s government expressed that this flight increase will introduce 44 new services and provide nearly 10,000 extra inbound seats for Western Australia compared to the previous 2025 season.
“The success of the flights between Perth and Rome reflects Qantas’ confidence in this service, and we appreciate the ongoing collaboration and additional seats for the 2026 northern summer,” commented Premier and Economic Diversification Minister Roger Cook on this development.
According to Qantas, this extended service will offer passengers more travel options to Rome and facilitate onward connections to various destinations throughout Italy and Europe.
Cam Wallace, Qantas International CEO, noted the popularity of the nonstop flights to Rome, revealing that over half of the travelers on these flights originate from eastern Australia. “Nearly doubling our capacity means more Australians can enjoy our non-stop routes to Europe, which consistently receive some of the highest customer satisfaction ratings in our international network,” Wallace mentioned.
This initiative further solidifies Western Australia’s unique position as the only state in Australia with direct flights to Europe, featuring Qantas services to Rome, Paris, and London.
Qantas launched its nonstop service from Perth to Rome in 2022, marking a historic first for direct connections between Australia and mainland Europe. Since then, the airline has successfully transported over 70,000 travelers on this route.
