Ryanair Reports Busy August 2025 and Unveils Exciting Winter Routes
European low-cost leader Ryanair has unveiled impressive traffic figures for August 2025, fueled by a surge in air-travel demand during the peak summer season. In this month, the airline transported 21 million passengers, marking a 2% increase compared to the same period last year.
This growth not only reflects a notable year-over-year rise but also highlights a consistent upward trend in monthly traffic, extending for eight consecutive months since the beginning of 2025. When comparing with July 2025, which saw 20.7 million passengers, August’s performance outpaced both June and May figures as well, where 19.9 million and 19.6 million passengers were transported, respectively.
Ryanair operated over 114,000 flights in August 2025, improving from 113,000 in July and 109,000 in June. Earlier this year, the airline experienced challenges in growth due to delays in Boeing’s 737 MAX deliveries. However, a faster delivery schedule has helped alleviate some of these concerns.
In August 2025, Ryanair boasted a load factor of 96%, remaining steady compared to the previous year. This figure surpassed those recorded in June and May, which were at 95%, showcasing the airline’s ability to fill more seats effectively.
Upcoming Aircraft Deliveries
Fiscally, Ryanair transported a remarkable 200.2 million passengers in the year ending March 2025, becoming the first European airline to surpass the 200 million mark in a single year. There’s optimism that 2025 will also exceed this record, contingent on the timely delivery of new 737 aircraft.
On August 27, 2025, industry insights suggested that Ryanair could receive an additional 25 737 MAX 8-200 planes earlier than anticipated. In a discussion with Reuters, CEO Michael O’Leary emphasized that over twenty of these “Gamechanger” jets would be delivered by October 2025, instead of the previously expected Spring 2026. He also expressed confidence in the timely delivery of the remaining orders from their 210 aircraft request.
New Routes on the Horizon
With new aircraft arriving, Ryanair is set to launch five new routes starting from its southern UK bases at London Stansted (STN) and London Luton (LTN) for the winter of 2025/26. Additionally, new routes will be introduced from their Northern Irish hub at Belfast International Airport (BFS).
From London Luton, travelers will soon be able to fly to Wroclaw in Poland (WRO), while London Stansted will see four new destinations: Lübeck (LBC) and Münster/Osnabrück (FMO) in Germany, as well as Murcia (RMU) in Spain and Trapani–Birgi Airport (TPS) in Sicily. This expansion increases Ryanair’s connectivity, offering lower fares compared to other airlines serving these routes.
On September 3, 2025, Ryanair also unveiled an expanded winter schedule from Belfast, featuring 13 routes, including popular destinations like Alicante, Faro, Lanzarote, and Malaga, as well as city breaks to locations such as Budapest, Gdansk, Kaunas, and Krakow.
The Belfast winter schedule will primarily utilize the airline’s two 737 aircraft based in the city, reflecting a significant $200 million investment aimed at supporting over 1,000 local jobs and promoting year-round tourism in Northern Ireland.
