Etihad Achieves Record 32% Profit Surge in First Half of 2025
Etihad Airways has reported a remarkable 32% increase in profits for the first half of 2025, marking its strongest half-year performance to date.
The airline disclosed its financial results on September 3, 2025, emphasizing that these findings reflect ongoing advancements in network expansion, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
“We are expanding sustainably, investing in premium experiences, and attracting record numbers of visitors to Abu Dhabi through our growing network,” noted Antonoaldo Neves, the CEO of Etihad Airways, regarding the impressive results.
Profit after tax totaled $306 million (AED 1.1 billion), showcasing a 32% growth compared to the same period from the previous year. Concurrently, total revenue experienced a 16% increase year-on-year.
This growth is attributed to “strong customer demand, productivity enhancements, and improved yields across both passenger and cargo sectors,” according to Etihad.
The airline’s EBITDA surged by 24% compared to the previous year, reaching $739 million (AED 2.7 billion), while the EBITDA margin improved to 20%.
Etihad transported 10.2 million passengers in the first half of 2025, reflecting a 17% rise from the previous year. This growth was supported by a 14% increase in Available Seat Kilometers (ASK) and a strong passenger load factor of 87%.
Significant Achievements for Etihad in 2025
In July 2025, the airline reached a significant milestone by carrying 20 million passengers over the preceding 12 months. That same month, Etihad expanded its fleet by adding five new aircraft, including its inaugural A321LR, representing the highest monthly delivery in its history.
The operating fleet surpassed 100 aircraft after the delivery of Etihad’s sixth Airbus A350 in April 2025 and the return of a seventh A380 in May of the same year. Additionally, the airline announced a deal for 28 wide-body aircraft with Boeing, coinciding with a visit by US President Donald Trump to the Persian Gulf.
This growth has allowed Etihad to service nearly 90 destinations as of June 2025, offering both year-round and seasonal flights. So far, the airline has introduced 27 new destinations in 2025, ensuring millions of visitors are directed to Abu Dhabi and beyond.
Etihad attributes its financial success to its workforce, hiring over 1,700 new employees in the first half of 2025, including more than 100 pilots and 1,000 cabin crew.
“We are already surpassing the growth metrics set in our strategy. Our focus is on executing plans while being committed to efficient and innovative expansion,” the airline stated, expressing optimism for the remainder of 2025.
