Air Canada Reveals Comprehensive Cabin Makeover for 25 Dash 8-400s
Air Canada has announced a complete cabin makeover and new seating for 25 De Havilland Dash 8-400 aircraft that are operated for Air Canada Express by Jazz.
On September 19, 2023, Air Canada described this initiative as the start of a significant upgrade program for their regional fleet. The goal is to offer passengers an enhanced level of comfort and convenience.
Next-Generation Seats
Each of the Dash 8-400s will benefit from ergonomically designed seats provided by Expliseat. These seats will feature updated branding and a fresh design language on their dress covers.
Every seat will also come equipped with a multi-use device holder for tablets and smartphones, along with a tray table. The planes will accommodate 78 seats, maintaining the current seat pitch, with installations expected to wrap up by mid-2026.
Commitment to Customer Experience
“Air Canada Express plays an essential role in serving communities across Canada, connecting families and businesses nationwide,” stated Mark Nasr, Executive Vice President and COO at Air Canada. He emphasized that this innovative project sets a new standard in the industry and reflects their dedication to quality customer service.
Mark further added, “By incorporating many of the design features and comforts found in our larger aircraft into the Dash 8-400, we aim to make even the shortest flights feel exceptional.”
Upgraded Cabin Aesthetics
The interiors of all 25 aircraft will be refreshed to align with the standard of Air Canada’s mainline fleet. The new design will incorporate colors, textures, and tones inspired by Canada’s natural beauty, showcasing Air Canada’s pride as the nation’s flag carrier.
In an industry first for the Dash 8-400, Air Canada will offer complimentary Wi-Fi on board. This service will initially be available for travelers at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ) starting in October 2025, with a fleet-wide rollout anticipated by 2026.
Investment in Connectivity and Service
Air Canada has already equipped 97% of its mainline and Air Canada Rouge aircraft with advanced connectivity systems for Wi-Fi, in partnership with Bell. Doug Clarke, President of Jazz, expressed enthusiasm about the upgrades, stating, “This investment in innovative seating, refreshed cabin interiors, and industry-leading onboard Wi-Fi reflects our shared commitment to safety and exceptional customer service.”
