Delta TechOps Expands European Presence with Jet2 Component Support Agreement
Delta TechOps is making strides in its global maintenance operations through a new long-term partnership with Jet2.com, the third-largest airline in the UK. This agreement, unveiled at MRO Europe 2025 in London from October 14-16, outlines component care services tailored for Jet2’s expanding fleet of Boeing and Airbus narrowbody aircraft.
This arrangement allows Delta TechOps to provide both mechanical and avionics support for Jet2.com, reinforcing a relationship that was initially established in 2023. Most of this work will occur from Delta’s U.S. facilities, particularly its Atlanta maintenance hub, which stands as one of the largest airline maintenance centers in the world. This facility boasts over two dozen shops specialized in various areas, including hydraulic and pneumatic systems, avionics, wheels and brakes, and composite structures.
Expanding a Growing Business
This agreement signifies Delta’s ambition to broaden its third-party maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) operations beyond its own aircraft. Delta TechOps, a division of Delta Air Lines, is currently servicing over 150 clients globally, offering maintenance for engines, airframes, and components across a diverse array of aircraft—from older models to the latest generations with CFM LEAP, Pratt & Whitney GTF, and Rolls-Royce Trent engines.
“This agreement underscores our component care expertise and the trust Delta TechOps has cultivated throughout Europe,” said Basil Papayoti, Vice President of Commercial at Delta TechOps. “With extensive experience supporting various fleets, Delta brings significant technical know-how to the partnership with Jet2.com.”
Although Delta does not specifically report TechOps revenue in its financial papers, this sector has significantly contributed to the airline’s overall profitability. The 2024 annual report indicated that Delta garnered approximately $770 million from its MRO and vacation services. Some industry analysts believe that TechOps is nearing the $1 billion annual revenue mark, bolstered by a robust first half of 2025, which saw maintenance revenues exceeding $450 million.
These figures may be modest relative to Delta’s total revenue of over $60 billion, but they represent a vital strategy for diversification. By providing services for other airlines, Delta can mitigate the fixed costs of maintaining one of the largest maintenance networks in the industry and forge relationships globally, even with competitors.
Strengthening European Presence
The contract with Jet2 enhances Delta TechOps’ presence in Europe, a market traditionally dominated by leading MRO firms such as Lufthansa Technik, AFI KLM E&M, and SR Technics. For Jet2, which is broadening its network across the Mediterranean and plans to introduce new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft in the near future, this collaboration provides vital access to Delta’s vast technical resources and proven reliability.
“We’re honored to support Jet2.com as it continues to expand its fleet and operations,” Papayoti remarked. “Our objective is to deliver dependable maintenance and technical expertise that ensures Jet2.com aircraft fly safely and efficiently.”
Since starting to offer maintenance services to other airlines in 2000, Delta TechOps has evolved into a key player in providing engine, airframe, and component support. The partnership with Jet2.com illustrates Delta’s commitment to extending its maintenance capabilities in crucial European markets, demonstrating how the long-established airline is diversifying its approach beyond its own fleet.
As part of this partnership announcement, Delta reiterated its ongoing investment in both established and next-gen maintenance programs—an initiative aimed at helping customers manage supply-chain challenges and extended fleet cycles. This agreement reinforces TechOps as a trusted MRO provider for European airlines, showcasing the scale, reliability, and technical expertise that sets it apart.
