TOKYO- All Nippon Airways (ANA) has introduced a special in-flight sake, the Junmai Ginjo 2019, crafted by renowned brewer Naohiko Noguchi from the Noto Peninsula. This premium sake is available exclusively in First and Business Class on select flights from Tokyo Haneda (HND). Boasting a bright profile of Japanese citrus, rice, and delicate white flowers, it reflects ANA’s meticulous attention to detail at 40,000 feet.
This launch coincides with a significant rebound in Japan’s tourism industry. The Japan National Tourism Organization has reported 31.65 million visitors in the first nine months of 2025, marking a 17.7% increase from the previous year. Airlines like ANA and Japan Airlines (JAL) are adapting their culinary approaches to captivate both local and international travelers.

Since its inception in 2013, ANA’s The Connoisseurs program has raised the standard for in-flight dining. This initiative teams world-class chefs and sommeliers, showcasing Japan’s culinary tradition of shun, which celebrates seasonal ingredients at their freshest.
In December 2024, ANA enhanced the program by adding 16 culinary experts, welcoming esteemed chefs like Yuhei Kurita from Ginza L’ecrin and Shiro Yamazaki of Restaurant Yamazaki. Chef Kenichiro Sekiya, from Tokyo’s Michelin-starred Joël Robuchon, has also joined the ranks, creating exquisite dishes.

In 2023, JAL launched its vegetarian menu, which includes an inventive mushroom and veggie-meat hamburger, elevated with demi-glace and olive oil mashed potatoes.
