AUCKLAND– Qantas Airways (QF) is on the verge of revealing its revamped lounge at Auckland International Airport (AKL), while also launching an extensive redevelopment of its primary lounge in Sydney.
The new lounge at AKL is set to open on 17 December 2025, just in time for the busy holiday travel season. Meanwhile, the refurbishment of the Sydney International Business Lounge at Sydney Airport (SYD) is entering its next phase, beginning 8 December 2025, with the complete upgrade anticipated to finish by 2027.

Details on the Auckland Lounge
The redesigned Auckland lounge is set to significantly increase its seating capacity. This new design combines the previous business-class and first-class areas into one unified premium lounge concept.
Developed with design partners, including Caon Design Office and Akin Atelier, the lounge showcases locally sourced finishes and furniture that reflect New Zealand’s natural beauty and craftsmanship.
It will accommodate trans-Tasman travelers and those on the Auckland-to-New York route via QF3/QF4. Qantas plans to elevate the seating from 244 to around 340, enhancing the capacity notably for the peak travel season.
This improvement is part of Qantas’s larger global lounge investment initiative, which focuses on upgrading amenities and expanding capacities for premium travelers and business-class passengers.

Scope of the Sydney Upgrade
In Sydney, the upgrade of the International Business Lounge at Terminal 1 will result in a seating capacity increase of over 30 percent.
Notable features include a 150 square-meter outdoor terrace, a show kitchen, USB-C power stations, and wireless charging at over 80 percent of the seating areas. The design draws inspiration from the scenic Blue Mountains and Bondi Beach.
This project is slated for completion ahead of Qantas’s ambitious Project Sunrise, which will introduce ultra-long-haul flights from Sydney to London and New York. During this renovation phase, customers will be temporarily accommodated in a lounge at Terminal 1 or the Plaza Premium lounge.
