Emirates Transitions Baghdad Route to Exclusively Airbus A350 Fleet

Emirates is set to transition its seven-day service to Baghdad starting in 2026. This change will see the airline utilize an all-Airbus A350 fleet, rendering the Boeing 777 redundant.

The Airbus A350 was initially introduced to Baghdad in August 2025, operating three times a week, while Emirates’ Boeing 777 aircraft serviced the Iraqi capital four times a week. On November 27, 2025, Emirates announced that beginning January 1, 2026, the A350 would operate daily as part of its dedication to its “Fly Better” initiative.

The inaugural Emirates A350-900 took to the skies this year, with plans for gradual introduction to new destinations as additional aircraft are delivered.

As reported by ch-aviation, Emirates currently has 13 A350s in operation, with an additional 52 scheduled for delivery in the coming years.

The new Emirates A350 model accommodates 312 passengers across three classes: 32 lie-flat business class seats, 21 premium economy seats, and 259 economy class seats. While the first 15 aircraft will maintain this configuration, the final 50 units will be adjusted to include only 298 seats to provide space for crew rest areas, allowing for ultra-long-haul operations.

A spokesperson for Emirates stated, “The exclusive deployment of the A350 to Baghdad underscores Emirates’ long-standing commitment to Iraq and the wider region.”
