Norse Atlantic Airways Welcomes New CEO, Succeeding Its Founder
Norse Atlantic Airways, a long-haul low-cost carrier, made significant leadership changes on November 28, 2025.
The airline’s board of directors appointed Eivind Roald as the new President and Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Bjørn Tore Larsen, the original founder of the airline.
Roald brings a wealth of experience from both the technology and airline sectors, having held high-level positions at companies like Accenture, Hewlett-Packard, and the Norwegian tech investment firm QNTM.
From 2012 to 2017, he served as Chief Commercial Officer and later took on the role of Executive Vice President & Managing Director for Growth at Scandinavian Airlines (SAS). This tenure was crucial for the pan-Nordic carrier, during which it successfully turned its financial situation around.
Prior to joining Norse Atlantic, Roald led CRST Advisory, a firm specializing in corporate turnarounds using big data and artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance clients’ operations.
This expertise seems particularly pertinent as Norse Atlantic Airways navigates a significant strategic overhaul, which is already showing positive results.
After several challenging years marked by financial losses, Norse Atlantic Airways has revamped its route network since 2024, achieving improved load factors and profitability by concentrating on a limited number of key markets. The airline has also ventured into the ACMI market.
A pivotal element of this transition has been its partnership with the rapidly growing Indian low-cost carrier IndiGo. Norse Atlantic has leased half of its 12 B787 aircraft fleet to IndiGo, enabling the Indian airline to expedite its expansion into the European market.
Bjørn Tore Larsen, who co-founded Norse Atlantic Airways in 2021, will remain involved with the company as Chairman of the Board.
In light of these developments, how do you think Roald’s leadership will shape the future of Norse Atlantic Airways?
