Cathay Pacific Introduces 777 with Updated Aria Business Suites in a Top Safe City
HONG KONG- Cathay Pacific (CX) is set to enhance its service by introducing the Aria Suite business class on long-haul routes, including the significant San Francisco (SFO) route. This rollout represents the cabin’s debut in the United States.
The airline is undertaking a phased reconfiguration of its Boeing 777-300ER fleet. Starting in early 2026, travelers will experience this upgraded product on the SFO route, which is part of a larger initiative to revitalize its long-haul offerings from Hong Kong (HKG).

Cathay Pacific Aria Suites to San Francisco
Introduced in late 2024, the Aria Suite marks a significant advancement in Cathay Pacific’s premium cabin offerings.
This product is being installed solely on the long-haul Boeing 777-300ER fleet, as part of a comprehensive fleet upgrade projected to wrap up by the end of 2027. Additionally, the Aria Suites will also appear on forthcoming Boeing 777-9 planes upon their arrival.
Currently, ten aircraft have undergone retrofitting, including B-KPA, B-KPE, B-KPF, B-KPO, B-KPU, B-KQH, B-KQL, B-KQX, B-KPX, and B-KPI. Each aircraft is modified in Xiamen XMN, requiring around seven weeks for completion. The next one slated for upgrade is B-KQQ.
The layout for the Aria Suite on the 777-300ER comprises 45 business class seats, offering a unique cabin experience. Rows 14 and 20 are highlighted for ease of identification when booking.

Current Long Haul Routes Featuring the Aria Suite
During the IATA winter season, travelers can catch the Aria Suite on flights between Hong Kong HKG and several major destinations.
These routes include Frankfurt FRA (CX289 or CX288), London LHR (CX255 or CX250), Melbourne MEL (CX163 or CX178), Sydney SYD (CX101 or CX100), and Vancouver YVR (CX888 or CX865). Select flights to Bangkok BKK and Sapporo CTS also offer this suite, subject to availability.
The United States will be added to the list beginning January 3, 2026, with the Boeing 777-300ER offering services to San Francisco SFO three times weekly on flights CX872 or CX873. Travelers are advised to check the aircraft type before booking, as changes may occur.

How Travelers Can Confirm Aria Suite Availability
To verify the presence of the Aria Suite, passengers can utilize several indicators. Google Flights directly labels this product when the Aria layout is available for a specific flight.
The Cathay Pacific website provides detailed seating maps that allow customers to view the 45-seat configuration. Those particular rows previously mentioned can aid in providing reliable confirmation during the booking process.
Additionally, travelers looking for award tickets can take advantage of Cathay Pacific’s loyalty program, which often secures premium cabin inventory more effectively.

Outlook for the Fleet Upgrade
Cathay Pacific has set a goal to retrofit its entire Boeing 777-300ER long-haul fleet by late 2027. Each aircraft’s upgrade takes almost two months, which means the process will steadily continue.
As more aircraft return to service, additional routes will gain access to this innovative business class offering.
