Aerolíneas Argentinas Unveils Plans for New A330neo and 737 MAX Jets

Aerolíneas Argentinas has unveiled its ambitious plans to enhance its fleet by acquiring four Airbus A330neo and 14 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. The airline aims to modernize cabin interiors and provide Wi-Fi connectivity throughout its fleet.

In a statement dated November 28, 2025, Aerolíneas Argentinas expressed its commitment to “modernizing the fleet, enhancing passenger travel experiences, and solidifying profitability and market positioning in domestic and international arenas.”

The airline considers the Airbus A330neo as a pivotal asset in its strategy, referring to it as a “natural step” following the operation of A330ceo aircraft.

A spokesperson clarified that transitioning to these newer aircraft makes sense due to their shared spare parts platform, simulators, and technical training with the existing A330ceo fleet.

Aerolíneas Argentinas plans to bring in 14 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, which will include two MAX 8s, four MAX 9s, and eight MAX 10s. The airline indicated that the MAX 8s will be added to its fleet soon.

The MAX family has shown exemplary performance worldwide and within Aerolíneas Argentinas, which currently operates 15 MAX 8s. The inclusion of the MAX 9 and MAX 10 models is expected to boost profitability on high-demand routes within Argentina and regional destinations.

Both the Airbus and Boeing aircraft will join the Aerolíneas fleet under an operating lease and will be part of the airline’s first self-financed investment plan.

As a significant shift, the airline stated that 2025 will be the first year it does not anticipate any financial aid from Argentina’s National Treasury, marking an “unprecedented milestone” since the state regained control of its shares.

Between 2008 and 2023, the airline reported cumulative losses averaging USD 400 million annually. However, 2024 saw a turnaround with its first positive operating result (EBIT) of USD 56.6 million, a figure projected to double by 2025.

Cabin Upgrades and Wi-Fi

In addition to acquiring new aircraft, Aerolíneas Argentinas announced plans to refresh the cabin interiors of its existing A330ceo aircraft.

The spokesperson mentioned, “This comprehensive plan will result in a more modern and efficient fleet, leading to greater passenger comfort and improved profitability for the airline.”

Wi-Fi connectivity will be installed across the entire fleet, starting with the A330s, followed by the Boeing 737s and Embraer 190s. This service rollout is expected to commence in 2027.

Fabián Lombardo, President and CEO of Aerolíneas Argentinas, emphasized that this plan represents a transformation for the airline, allowing it to invest and grow using its own resources. “We will enhance our total seat capacity and solidify a modern, efficient, and highly profitable fleet, delivering an attractive product that passengers appreciate,” he added.

With the addition of the two new Boeing MAX 8s, Aerolíneas Argentinas will operate a total of 83 aircraft, comprising 10 Airbus A330-200ceos, 15 Boeing 737 MAX 8s, 28 Boeing 737-800s, four Boeing 737-700s, 24 Embraer E190s, and two Boeing 737-800 freighters.
