Vietjet Achieves Major Growth with Delivery of 22 New Aircraft

Vietjet, the Vietnamese budget airline, is set to wrap up 2025 with a remarkable expansion of its fleet. Before the year concludes, the carrier will welcome 22 new aircraft, marking a historic moment in its growth.

The latest addition, an Airbus A321neo ACF bearing the registration VN-A580, is expected to arrive this Christmas. This substantial batch of aircraft comes at a time when many airlines around the globe are grappling with aircraft shortages and supply chain challenges that have delayed deliveries.

Fleet Distribution

The new aircraft will be allocated strategically across various operations within Vietjet. Nine Boeing jets will serve Vietjet Thailand, while seven Airbus aircraft will enhance the Vietnam-based fleet. Additionally, four wet lease aircraft are planned for peak travel seasons, and two COMAC jets are designated for routes to Con Dao.

This announcement follows BBN Airlines Thailand’s news of launching its ACMI operations, with Vietjet Thailand as its inaugural partner.

As the Lunar New Year of 2026 approaches—a period marked by heightened travel demand—Vietjet is poised to leverage this increased capacity to meet seasonal needs while expanding its international network.

Fleet Modernization

These deliveries arrive while airlines around the world continue to face a shortage of available planes, with manufacturers striving to meet their delivery commitments. Receiving 22 aircraft in such a short timeframe underscores Vietjet’s strong financial position and its good standing with both manufacturers and lessors.

The new aircraft are designed for fuel efficiency, positioning Vietjet among the larger airlines in Southeast Asia. Despite launching just over ten years ago, the airline’s fleet size is now comparable to that of more established competitors in the region.

The additional aircraft will serve both domestic routes within Vietnam and international flights throughout the Asia-Pacific area. This expansion aligns perfectly with the ongoing surge in travel demand in Asia following the pandemic recovery.

Overall, this fleet growth illustrates Vietjet’s ambitious strategy to solidify its presence in the regional aviation market.

What are your thoughts on Vietjet’s expansion plans? Would you consider flying with them on their new routes?
