Top Airline Welcomes New CEO to Lead Future Innovations
DOHA- Qatar Airways has appointed Hamad Ali Al-Khater as the new Group Chief Executive Officer, starting on December 7, 2025. He takes over from Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer.
The national airline, based in Doha with its principal hub at Hamad International Airport, announced this leadership change as part of its long-term strategic plan.

Hamad Ali Al-Khater transitions to Qatar Airways Group from Hamad International Airport, where he served as Chief Operating Officer (COO). In this position, he was responsible for airport safety, operational reliability, and infrastructure growth, ensuring consistent enhancements in passenger experience.
His new role is pivotal as Qatar Airways emphasizes operational discipline, network reliability, and sustainable growth. Al-Khater’s background at one of the world’s leading airports equips him to sync airline operations with hub performance and capacity planning effectively.
Before his tenure at the airport, Al-Khater held important leadership positions at QatarEnergy, where he concentrated on business development, deal execution, and implementing large-scale strategic initiatives. His extensive experience in both aviation infrastructure and energy sectors supports Qatar Airways’ focus on resilient operations and careful expansion.
