26 Injured in Pepper Spray Incident at London Heathrow Terminal 3 Parking
LONDON- A robbery at London Heathrow Airport (LHR) led to injuries for two dozen individuals due to the use of pepper spray inside a parking garage elevator. Authorities confirmed the attack was criminal and not linked to terrorism.
This early morning incident caused significant disruption at Terminal 3, with access cut off for several hours while police, fire departments, and medical teams administered aid and secured the area.

Incident at Heathrow Terminal 3
The event took place around 8:00 am on December 7 in a multi-story parking facility linked to Terminal 3.
A woman was robbed of her suitcase while in an elevator, during which the assailants sprayed a substance thought to be pepper spray. The confined space exacerbated the situation, affecting everyone inside.
Panic erupted as passengers struggled to get out, leading to a surge of emergency calls. An immediate multi-agency response followed.
Initial reports indicated one arrest; however, investigators now believe that four individuals were involved in this robbery.

Injuries and Emergency Response
A total of 26 individuals suffered injuries, including a child aged three. The London Ambulance Service transported five people to a local hospital.
Fortunately, none of the injuries were life-threatening. The first emergency call was logged at 8:04 am, followed by a police response at 8:11 am, which included armed officers for safety. The London Fire Brigade also participated in the response, with most teams called off by midday.

Investigation and Security Actions
Commander Peter Stevens of the Metropolitan Police stated that officers were quick to analyze CCTV footage and collect statements from witnesses.
Authorities suspect that the suspects were familiar with each other and have reiterated that the incident was not tied to terrorism.
One man, 31, remains in custody on assault charges. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the robbery.

Disruptions at the Airport and Official Actions
During the emergency response, access to terminal areas was limited, causing some transport services, such as train connections to central London, to be temporarily suspended.
Heathrow Airport announced that normal operations resumed within hours. Officials expressed gratitude to passengers for their understanding while emergency crews managed the situation.
