ANA Unveils Grand Finale: C-3PO-Themed 777 for Epic Star Wars Collaboration

ANA Airways has announced the final details regarding the retirement of its iconic C-3PO-themed Boeing 777-200ER, bringing a close to its celebrated partnership with the Star Wars franchise.

Starting on December 5, 2025, ANA confirmed a series of special flights scheduled over three days, allowing enthusiasts to bid farewell to the C-3PO-themed aircraft, which debuted its Star Wars livery in 2017.

The airline stated that the beloved C-3PO ANA JET will cease operations on January 9, 2026, following the conclusion of these final flights.

On January 7, 2026, the inaugural flight will depart from Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND) to Osaka Itami Airport (ITM), with the last flight scheduled from Fukuoka Airport (FUK) to Haneda on January 9.

Across these three days, a total of 18 flights will cover multiple airports throughout Japan, offering a chance for numerous passengers to experience the C-3PO-themed 777 one last time.

Earlier in the year, ANA also shared that its popular R2-D2 robot, featured on a Boeing 787-9, will take its final flight on August 6, 2025.

While the ANA Star Wars Project officially concludes on March 31, 2026, many fans will view January 2026 as the end of an era with the retirement of the last themed jet.

The partnership between ANA and Star Wars kicked off in 2015, leading to several aircraft being styled after characters and themes from the beloved saga.

A Boeing 777-300ER painted with a BB-8 motif entered service in 2016 and was retired in 2022. Additionally, a Boeing 767-300ER had R2-D2 on one side and BB-8 on the other from 2015 until 2019.

Other airlines, such as United and LATAM Airlines, have also embraced the Star Wars theme with their own liveries over the years.
