Pan Am CEO Confirms Future Incorporation of Airbus A320neo

Avi8 Air Capital and Pan Am Brands Join Forces for a Relaunch

In 2025, the aviation industry witnessed an intriguing development: Pan Am Brands, part of Pan American Global Holdings, alongside Avi8 Air Capital, is exploring the possibility of resurrecting the legendary airline.

Despite some skepticism surrounding this initiative, the relaunch team is dedicated to reinstating Pan Am as a recognized US Part 121 scheduled carrier.

Recent Advances in Training and Strategy

On December 12, 2025, Pan Am took a significant step by signing an agreement with Avengers Flight Group to offer simulator training services. This marks a vital component of their strategy to re-enter the market.

Additionally, Ed Wegel, the founder of Pan Am (2025), shared insights through a social media post that shed light on their ambitious plans. Wegel also established Urban Mobility and Avi8, underscoring his commitment to the brand’s revival.

Focus on the Airbus Fleet

It was previously disclosed that the revamped Pan Am aims to operate with an Airbus fleet, particularly the A320neo, as announced on December 10, 2025. Wegel emphasized the importance of this aircraft in their future operations.

In his statement, he remarked, “Pan Am is well known for having operated Boeing aircraft—ranging from the B314 Stratocruiser to the B707 and the launch customer for the 747. However, Pan Am also had ties with Airbus, operating the A300 and A310, and placing an order for 50 A320 aircraft in 1987.”

Industry Challenges Ahead

Wegel elaborated on the current challenges within the aircraft industry, noting issues with new-generation engines from both Pratt and GE. This situation has led to the dismantling of 3 to 6-year-old A320 NEOs to lease their engines to other operators facing early overhaul or repair needs.

He concluded, “The new Pan Am will eventually operate the A320 NEO (subject to FAA and DOT approvals, of course) once supply chain and engine-related issues are resolved. We anticipate that the A320 NEO market will return to some form of normalcy.”

Wegel expressed gratitude to Airbus for providing an initial rendering of the Pan Am-branded aircraft, signifying a step closer to the airline’s future.

As we follow these developments, what are your thoughts on the potential revival of such an iconic airline?
