Air Europa and Airbus Confirm Deal for 40 A350-900s at Dubai Airshow

Representatives from Air Europa and Airbus recently came together at Fitur in Madrid to finalize a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding the acquisition of 40 A350-900 aircraft, an agreement that had been initially signed at the Dubai Airshow 2025.

On January 22, 2026, Air Europa President Juan José Hidalgo and Airbus Head of Sales for Western Europe, Ville Arhippainen, met on the second day of the trade event to finalize the details of this significant agreement.

They gathered at the Air Europa exhibit stand, taking photos to commemorate this achievement, which marks a key moment in the airline’s journey to introduce the A350-900 into its fleet.

The arrival of the A350-900s is anticipated to expedite the replacement of older wide-body aircraft while enhancing Air Europa’s standing on transatlantic routes, where customer demand remains robust.

Hidalgo has expressed that the A350-900 is a “game-changer,” especially for crucial destinations in Latin America, citing its “operational performance and economics” as essential for expanding the airline’s network without sacrificing quality.

At the Dubai Airshow 2025, Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, EVP Sales of Airbus Commercial Aircraft, publicly welcomed Air Europa into the Airbus A350 family. He emphasized that this order is a strong affirmation of the A350 as a leader in efficiency and passenger comfort within the long-haul market.

Air Europa’s long-haul fleet currently relies on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and maintains a network primarily concentrated on Latin America, which is one of Europe’s most competitive long-haul markets.

Are you excited to see how the addition of the A350-900 will transform Air Europa’s operations?
