Air Cambodia Announces Major Boeing Order of 20 737-8s at Singapore Airshow

Boeing has recently announced Air Cambodia as its latest client, revealing an order for up to 20 737 MAX 8 aircraft during the inaugural day of the Singapore Airshow.

As reported by Boeing, the contract includes 10 firm orders for the 737-8, along with an option for 10 additional units. This agreement had not been previously listed on the manufacturer’s orders and deliveries website.

“Choosing the 737-8 positions Air Cambodia perfectly for our next growth phase by offering an excellent blend of range, capacity, and fuel efficiency,” stated Dr. David Zhan, the CEO of Air Cambodia. “This is our largest investment in narrowbody aircraft, allowing us to launch direct services to key markets in North and Southeast Asia, while also offering affordable travel options for passengers and creating job opportunities that uplift our communities.”

This landmark agreement signifies Air Cambodia’s most significant purchase of narrowbody aircraft to date. Currently, the airline operates a modest fleet consisting of a few Airbus and ATR models, according to ch-aviation.

“We are excited to welcome Air Cambodia as our newest 737 MAX customer and anticipate a successful partnership that makes the versatile and dependable 737-8 available in Cambodia,” remarked Brad McMullen, Boeing’s Senior Vice President of Commercial Sales and Marketing. “Our commitment lies in fostering the growth of aviation in Cambodia and throughout the region, enabling Air Cambodia to expand its connections across Asia with these efficient aircraft.”

Air Cambodia’s services span both domestic and international routes, connecting passengers to destinations in Vietnam, India, Thailand, China, Japan, and Hong Kong. The addition of the 737 MAX 8 will enhance the airline’s expanding regional network.
