United Airlines Launches Super Bowl Ad as Starlink Fleet Surpasses 300
United Airlines is set to showcase a high-profile advertisement during the Super Bowl as it celebrates the rollout of Starlink Wi-Fi on over 300 aircraft within its regional fleet.
On February 2, 2026, the airline announced that nearly all passengers on its regional services can now enjoy Starlink connectivity, marking a significant upgrade achieved in just under a year.
To commemorate this milestone, a new space-themed commercial will air during the “Big Game” on February 8, 2026. This film will highlight how Starlink enables travelers to watch live sports and participate in online gaming while in flight.
“We focus on what we call ‘travel truths’ in our advertising,” said Maggie Schmerin, United’s Chief Advertising Officer. “With this spot, we wanted to celebrate the monumental leap forward that Starlink Wi-Fi represents for our customers. Starlink is revolutionizing the in-flight experience by providing reliable connectivity for everything from productivity to streaming major sporting events.”
The advertisement will be broadcast in select local markets, including Cincinnati, Cleveland, Colorado Springs, Denver, Houston, Indianapolis, and Kansas City—cities served by United’s Starlink-equipped regional aircraft.
In March 2025, United announced the initiation of the Starlink Wi-Fi rollout across its regional fleet, following the airline’s announcement in September 2024 of a large-scale agreement with SpaceX.
“United customers are thoroughly enjoying the new Wi-Fi experience on our Starlink-equipped planes,” explained Grant Milstead, United’s VP of Digital Technology. “Our rollout of Starlink is happening at an unmatched pace, and reaching this milestone for our regional fleet is only the beginning. By the end of 2026, more than 500 mainline aircraft are expected to be equipped. This reflects our commitment to extending this innovative service throughout our fleet.”
According to United, customer satisfaction scores for in-flight Wi-Fi have nearly doubled on aircraft fitted with Starlink.
This year, United aims to speed up the Starlink rollout to its mainline fleet and will seek Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approval for over a dozen aircraft models, including the Boeing 737-900ER, the Airbus A321 family, and Boeing 777s.
By the end of 2026, United anticipates that Starlink access will be available on more than half of its mainline fleet, adding another 500 aircraft.
In 2025, United received FAA approval for its first mainline aircraft equipped with Starlink Wi-Fi. On September 26, 2025, the airline confirmed that a Starlink-equipped Boeing 737-800 had successfully received FAA certification.
