First Lufthansa Boeing 787-9 with New Allegris Cabin Lands in Frankfurt
German airline Lufthansa recently added a significant asset to its fleet, the Boeing 787-9, which showcases the innovative Allegris cabin. This aircraft, registered as D-ABPF, touched down at Frankfurt Airport (FRA) following a non-stop flight lasting nine hours and 24 minutes from Boeing’s manufacturing site at Paine Field (PAIE) in Everett, Washington.
This October marks the beginning of a new chapter for Lufthansa, as the Allegris-equipped Dreamliner is set to launch its inaugural route to Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) in Canada. The plane will commence operations as soon as regulatory approval for the new cabin configuration is received.
Allegris represents Lufthansa’s premium cabin offering, featuring elegant private First Class suites and an extensively redesigned Business Class. This new setup provides various seating options tailored to meet diverse passenger needs.
The Allegris concept first made its commercial appearance in summer 2024, despite earlier setbacks due to supply chain challenges that postponed the rollout of First Class seats. However, the product has successfully been integrated into Lufthansa’s Munich-based A350-900 aircraft.
With the integration of the Boeing 787-9, Lufthansa can now extend the Allegris experience to its operations based out of Frankfurt.
In the coming years, Lufthansa plans to retrofit at least 78 of its widebody jets with the Allegris cabin. This initiative includes upgrades to its Boeing 747-8i fleet, which is also being enhanced with this new luxury product.
As of August 2025, Lufthansa operates five Boeing 787-9s, with an additional 34 on order along with 13 options for future acquisition. Deliveries are anticipated between 2025 and 2028, with nine more B787-9s expected to arrive in Frankfurt before the close of 2025, ahead of their scheduled service launch.
