Turkish Airlines Finalizes Boeing Deal for Up to 225 Aircraft

Turkish Airlines has recently announced to its investors that it has secured a deal with Boeing for a significant order of aircraft. The airline confirmed it would acquire up to 225 planes from the US manufacturer.

On September 26, 2025, Turkish Airlines revealed that its Board of Directors had confirmed a firm order for 50 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, which includes a mix of 787-8 and 787-9 models, with an option to add 25 more.

The airline also stated, “Discussions with Rolls-Royce and GE Aerospace are underway to procure engines, spare engines, and maintenance services for the new aircraft.” Boeing later specified that the deal consists of 35 units of the 787-9 and 15 of the larger 787-10 model.

“It’s a pleasure to be with President @RTErdogan of Turkey, and we’ve been friends for a long time… We do a lot of trade with Turkey, and we’re going to continue… We’re going to get a lot done.” – President Donald J. Trump 🇺🇸🇹🇷 [pic.twitter.com/NexSY05OQJ](https://t.co/NexSY05OQJ)

Prof. Ahmet Bolat, the Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee at Turkish Airlines, stated, “This landmark agreement signifies more than just fleet expansion. It showcases our leadership in the industry and commitment to innovation and operational excellence.”

He further emphasized that integrating these advanced Boeing aircraft into their fleet will significantly boost operational capabilities, aligning with Turkish Airlines’ Vision 2033 to grow its fleet to 800 aircraft.

In addition to the Dreamliners, Turkish Airlines has also reached an agreement with Boeing for 100 Boeing 737 MAX jets, which includes models 737-8 and 737-10, with an option for an additional 50 aircraft.

While discussions surrounding the MAX jets have concluded, the final order remains contingent upon negotiations with CFM International regarding engines. This order would mark the largest single-aisle purchase the airline has made from Boeing.

“We are honored that Turkish Airlines has once again chosen the 787 Dreamliner and 737 MAX to drive its future growth,” said Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes.

Deliveries of the 787 Dreamliners are planned between 2026 and 2029, though specific timelines for the Boeing 737 deliveries have yet to be confirmed.

With these orders, Turkish Airlines aims for its fleet to entirely consist of new-generation aircraft by 2035, enhancing operational efficiency while targeting an average annualgrowth rate of approximately 6%. Turkish Airlines has stated this initiative is part of its Strategic Plan to deliver considerable value to all stakeholders.

On September 25, 2025, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and US President Donald Trump met at the White House. There is ongoing speculation about a potential deal for F-16 fighter jets, but nothing has been finalized yet.

According to data from ch-aviation, Turkish Airlines currently operates 22 Boeing 787-9s and 25 Boeing 737-8s, with the 737-10 still awaiting certification.
