Singapore Airlines Increases Flights to One of the World’s Busiest Cities

SINGAPORE- Renowned as one of the leading airlines globally, Singapore Airlines (SQ) is enhancing its operations in the Philippines with a new virtual travel fair and an additional daily flight to Manila (MNL).

The airline intends to increase passenger traffic by improving accessibility for bookings and expanding its flight capacity. In August, Singapore Airlines initiated a fifth daily service to Manila, resulting in a 27% increase in seat availability. This marks the airline’s first route expansion in the Philippines since 2009.

“Shifting to a virtual travel fair is a great strategy for us. This allows our customers convenience and accessibility nationwide,” shared Aiza S. Garcia, the Head of Marketing & PR at Singapore Airlines.

Garcia pointed out that the move to a virtual format for the annual travel fair was influenced by evolving travel trends stemming from the pandemic.

She highlighted that travelers are now more accustomed to digital and cashless transactions, fitting well with the airline’s goal of simplifying bookings.

Even with this digital emphasis, SIA’s clientele remains varied. “We have a mix of seasoned travelers who frequently fly with us, along with younger individuals who once aspired to fly with us and are now enjoying that experience,” Garcia noted.

For those who value additional convenience, flight bookings can still be made through travel agencies. This hybrid model provides flexibility for customers planning their vacations.

As noted by Business World, the introduction of services SQ913 and SQ914 indicates strong demand and optimism for continued growth in the market.

“The addition of services SQ913 and SQ914 is a clear sign of demand, and we are responding to it with increased capacity,” Garcia emphasized.

In collaboration with its low-cost subsidiary Scoot, Singapore Airlines currently operates 86 weekly flights to and from various Philippine cities, including Manila, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, and Clark, linking Filipinos to Singapore and beyond.
