Qatar Airways Rolls Out A380 First Class to World’s Strongest Passport Nation
Introduction of Qatar Airways A380 on the SIN-DOH Route
SINGAPORE– Qatar Airways (QR) is planning to introduce its renowned Airbus A380 on the Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) to Doha Hamad International (DOH) route starting mid-January 2026. This marks the first-time inclusion of First Class on this route.
However, there’s a change ahead for Business Class travelers, as the airline will discontinue its flagship “Qsuite guarantee” on one of its three daily services. Consequently, passengers flying on that specific service will experience a different cabin configuration.

Details of the A380 Service
Between 12 January and 28 March 2026, Qatar’s flight QR947/948 will be operated by the A380 instead of the typical Airbus A350. Notably, Singapore has predominantly been a destination served exclusively with Qsuite Business Class.
The introduction of the A380 brings 517 seats and the highly sought-after First-Class cabin but eliminates the Qsuite offering on this route.
There will be an exception to this winter schedule from 26 January to 21 February, during which the regular A350 service is expected to resume. Other flights, including QR945/943/944/942, will still feature the Qsuite configuration.
Travelers booking QR947/948 should note that Business Class will now offer the Collins Diamond seat instead of Qsuite.

Cabin Experience Changes
The most significant positive shift is the availability of First Class on the SIN-DOH route, which offers a level of luxury previously unattainable on this corridor.
On the downside, Business Class passengers on the affected flight lose the exceptional Qsuite layout known for its privacy and versatility. Instead, they will experience the older seating model in the A380’s upper deck, which, while comfortable, lacks the modern privacy features of Qsuite.
One advantage of the A380’s cabin layout is the onboard bar and social space, which may balance out the loss of Qsuite for some travelers.
Network Strategy and Implications
This strategic decision by Qatar Airways illustrates its commitment to adapt aircraft types based on demand while introducing First Class to new markets.
Switching to the A380 for Singapore signifies a capacity upgrade, despite the potential drawbacks for some Business Class travelers. This move offers enhanced premium travel options, albeit with some inconsistency for Business Class customers. Here are some highlights to expect:
- Enhanced comfort and indulgence compared to the standard Business Class experience.
- Eight spacious seats with luxurious finishes.
- Premium dining options along with fine wines and champagne.
- Access to Qatar Premium Lounge and Qantas First Lounge in Singapore.
- Access to the Al Safwa First Class Lounge in Doha during transit.

Final Thoughts
Qatar Airways’ decision to deploy the A380 to Singapore introduces a significant enhancement by adding First Class to the route. However, Business Class passengers on the specific QR947/948 service will miss out on the Qsuite experience during this winter season.
Travelers focused on enjoying the Qsuite should ensure they choose unaffected flights, while those looking for an enhanced First Class service now have a new option on the SIN-DOH route.
