GOL Linhas Aéreas, Brazil’s largest low-cost airline, is advancing its financial recovery by filing a proposed Chapter 11 reorganization plan amid bankruptcy proceedings. This follows a Plan Support Agreement with majority shareholder Abra Group and key creditors. GOL’s January 2024 bankruptcy filing was prompted by significant losses and challenging aircraft leases. The restructuring plan includes reducing debt by converting obligations into equity and writing off up to $1.7 billion, with Abra Group committing approximately $950 million in new equity. A court hearing on the plan is set for January 15, 2025, to finalize creditor voting.
