ANA Boosts Global Reach with 5% Capacity Growth and New Boeing 787-9s for FY2026

ANA Holdings has announced its flight schedule for fiscal year 2026, revealing a 5% growth in international capacity, alongside the introduction of new Boeing aircraft and a revamping of its cargo network. This strategic plan also incorporates adjustments to domestic routes and the seamless integration of the recently acquired Nippon Cargo Airlines (NCA) into its operations.

On January 19, 2026, the Tokyo-based airline disclosed its FY2026 flight schedule, marking a clear path toward expansion in both passenger and cargo services while effectively assimilating Nippon Cargo Airlines into its framework.

International Expansion and New Aircraft

ANA plans to enhance its international flight frequency to 105% of its 2025 capacity. This growth includes facilitating daily service on the route from Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND) to Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) during the latter half of the fiscal year. Additionally, seasonal services between Narita and Vancouver International Airport (YVR) will be reinstated from June to August 2026.

Starting August 2026, the airline will commence deliveries of the Boeing 787-9 aircraft, featuring upgraded cabin interiors. These modern planes will showcase ANA’s latest Business Class offering, “THE Room FX,” along with redesigned seating in Premium Economy and Economy Class. However, the airline has yet to reveal the specific routes that will benefit from this new fleet.

Ana’s low-cost subsidiary, Peach, is set to increase its total flight frequency to 112% compared to the previous year, making seasonal adjustments to flights heading to Seoul Incheon Airport (ICN), Taipei Taoyuan Airport (TPE), and Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) from its hub at Osaka Kansai Airport (KIX).

Domestic Network Adjustments

Focusing on its domestic operations, ANA plans to operate at 98% of its prior year capacity, making frequency reductions or suspending certain routes based on market demand and competition.

Among notable changes, the service between Haneda and Fukuoka Airport (FUK) will decrease from 20 to 19 daily roundtrips. Similarly, the Osaka Itami Airport (ITM) to Sapporo’s New Chitose Airport (CTS) service will be cut from six to five daily roundtrips. Furthermore, ANA will temporarily suspend certain routes including Kansai-Sapporo and Kansai-Okinawa, though select flights may still operate on specific dates.

This summer, ANA will introduce temporary service on routes such as Nagoya Chubu to Asahikawa and Memanbetsu from July through October.

Peach will also expand its domestic capacity on key leisure routes, such as Kansai-Sapporo and Kansai-Okinawa Naha Airport (OKA), while launching limited seasonal services to Kushiro Airport (KUH) and Memanbetsu Airport (MMB) from Kansai. Additionally, new Boeing 737-8 aircraft are expected to join the domestic fleet in June 2026.

Cargo Network Reorganization

To strengthen its position as Japan’s largest combination carrier, ANA Group is reorganizing its cargo operations following the integration of Nippon Cargo Airlines.

The restructure allows ANA-operated freighters to cover Asian routes with medium-sized Boeing 767 freighters, while NCA flights will target North America and Europe using larger Boeing 777 and 747 freighters.

Beginning March 29, 2026, ANA will boost freighter frequency on the Narita-Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) route. NCA will introduce a total of five additional weekly roundtrips on its routes connecting Narita with Chicago O’Hare Airport (ORD), Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

The cargo expansion will also see modifications on routes to Hong Kong, Shanghai, and various Chinese locations, with some frequencies yet to be established. Service to Europe will continue to operate via Amsterdam, reaching Milan and Frankfurt.

Currently, ANA operates a fleet of 82 aircraft across its brands, including ANA, Peach, and AirJapan. The airline group was lauded as Asia Pacific’s Most On-Time Airline for 2025 and has held the esteemed SKYTRAX 5-Star rating for 13 consecutive years.

All adjustments and route changes remain subject to regulatory approval, with specific implementation dates for some routes to be announced as preparations proceed.
