Jet2 Expands Operations with New Base at London-Luton Airport

On April 1, 2025, British leisure airline Jet2, alongside its tour operator Jet2holidays, proudly inaugurated its 13th UK base at London-Luton Airport (LTN). This exciting development marks a significant expansion for Jet2, which has consistently grown over the years. With two new Airbus A321neo aircraft stationed at Luton, the airline plans to operate up to 36 flights per week to popular European and Mediterranean destinations, enhancing travel options for holidaymakers.

Celebrating New Beginnings at London-Luton

The launch of Jet2’s operations from London-Luton Airport is the second new airport base opened by the airline in 2025, following the successful start of flights from Bournemouth Airport (BOH) in February. The inaugural flight, LS3863, departed at 08:39, heading to Palma Airport (PMI) in Majorca, quickly followed by another flight to Tenerife (LS375).

To celebrate this milestone, Jet2 organized a festive event at the airport, featuring a red carpet welcome for passengers. Travelers checked in to receive personalized gifts, with the very first customers awarded free flight vouchers. One lucky winner even received a complimentary seven-night holiday in Turkey, presented by CEO Steve Heapy. A traditional Spanish guitarist entertained passengers awaiting their flight to Palma, enhancing the celebratory atmosphere.

Expansive Destination Offerings

This summer, Jet2 will operate flights to 17 diverse destinations, including:

  • Canary Islands
  • Balearic Islands
  • Mainland Spain
  • Portugal
  • Turkey
  • Greece
  • Italy
  • Madeira

With a total of over 430,000 seats available during its first season from London-Luton, Jet2 significantly expands its footprint in the South of England, complementing existing operations at London-Stansted Airport (STN) and Bournemouth.

Our family-friendly ethos and award-winning customer service are now available for holidaymakers to experience firsthand." He emphasized the importance of this milestone, highlighting the successful launch celebrations centered around customer experiences.

Alberto Martin, Chief Executive of London Luton Airport, echoed this sentiment, noting the excitement surrounding Jet2’s arrival and its positive impact on holidaymakers flying from the airport. The introduction of Jet2 has also led to the creation of over 125 new jobs in the region, including roles for flight deck and cabin crew, engineers, and ground operations staff.

Looking Ahead: Winter 2025/26 Program

Jet2 has already received a "phenomenal response" to its upcoming Winter 2025/26 program, set to begin later this year. The airline will offer flights to eight winter sun destinations, including the Canary Islands, Spain, Turkey, and Portugal, with over 140,000 seats scheduled across 19 weekly flights during the winter peak.
