Air India Express Launches New Non-Stop Flights from Mumbai to Varanasi

MUMBAI – Air India Express, the low-cost carrier owned by Tata Group, is set to launch its inaugural non-stop flights between Mumbai (BOM) and Varanasi (VNS) starting February 15, 2025. This new route aims to boost connectivity and meet the increasing demand for travel between these two significant Indian cities, making it an exciting development for travelers and tourism alike.

This marks a historic moment for Air India Express, as it will be the first time the airline operates flights directly to Varanasi from Mumbai. Currently, Varanasi is already connected to three other destinations, highlighting the airline’s expanding network.

Competition on the BOM-VNS Route

The introduction of Air India Express on the Mumbai-Varanasi route will intensify competition, as there are currently six daily flights operating on this route. Major carriers such as Akasa Air (QP) and IndiGo (6E) each provide two daily flights, while SpiceJet (SG) operates one daily flight. Additionally, the parent company, Air India (AI), also serves this route, making Air India Express the fifth airline to join this competitive market. Following the launch, the Mumbai-Varanasi sector will feature up to seven daily flights.
