A spokesperson from the airport stated, “Noida International Airport is steadily advancing toward operational readiness.” They indicated that the Airport Authority of India is making progress on the air traffic control tower and associated infrastructure, although the passenger terminal remains behind schedule.

The airport has submitted its aerodrome license application and a draft aeronautical information publication, aiming for a January release. The team is navigating through essential regulatory steps with both aviation and security authorities. Originally, commercial operations were slated to begin on April 17, 2025. The first phase includes a single runway with a capacity to handle 12 million passengers annually. In addition to passenger terminals, the airport will house dedicated cargo facilities and comprehensive Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) services to support diverse aviation operations. Once operational, NIA will serve as the third commercial airport in the Delhi-NCR region, complementing Indira Gandhi International Airport and Hindon Air Base, thus addressing the rising aviation demands in India’s capital region.
