Oman Air Resumes London Heathrow Flights with 787s
Oman Air Resumes Double-Daily Flights from Muscat to London: Key Highlights
Oman Air (WY) is set to enhance travel options by restarting double-daily flights between Muscat (MCT) and London (LHR) on October 26. This strategic decision comes in response to the increasing passenger demand and the airline’s strong performance on this vital route. With the addition of this flight service, travelers can enjoy greater flexibility and convenience for their journeys.
Oman Air Expands London Flight Services
The newly reinstated flights will operate four days a week—on Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays—allowing passengers more scheduling options. This expansion is designed to improve connectivity with various destinations served by Oman Air’s Oneworld partners, particularly in North America. By summer 2026, Oman Air aims to offer approximately 14 return flights weekly from Muscat.
Con Korfiatis, CEO of Oman Air, emphasized the significance of this route expansion. He stated, “The introduction of double-daily flights to London reflects our commitment to meeting strong passenger demand, especially as London serves as a strategic hub in our international network and the United Kingdom represents one of our most important inbound tourism markets.”
Strengthening Oman Air’s Global Presence
This expanded service not only boosts Oman Air’s operations but also aligns with Oman’s broader tourism goals. The airline is preparing to join the Oneworld alliance, which will enhance accessibility for international travelers to Oman.
The new schedule will feature two daily flights four days a week, creating seamless connections to destinations in the United States and other long-haul locations. All flights on this route will utilize the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, known for their spacious cabins and three award-winning service classes: Business Studio, Business Class, and Economy Class.
Future Goals for Oman Air
Oman Air plans to officially join the Oneworld alliance by June 30, 2025. This membership will expand travel options for passengers and attract more international visitors to Oman. As part of its strategic growth, the airline is simplifying its fleet by operating only two aircraft types. For long-distance journeys, it will rely solely on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, while shorter routes will utilize Boeing 737-8 planes. By mid-2026, Oman Air aims to operate exclusively with 737-8 aircraft for its shorter flights, improving maintenance and operational efficiency.
The airline is also focused on expanding its route network, with particular interest in flights to China and Africa, while increasing its presence in European and South Asian markets. This strategic approach will create more travel options for passengers and support the growth of Oman’s tourism sector.
Enhancing the Travel Experience
Passengers can look forward to improvements in in-flight entertainment systems and the continued provision of complimentary meals and beverages, ensuring a premium travel experience. Oman Air remains committed to distinguishing itself from competitors by maintaining high-quality service.
To secure long-term success, Oman Air is implementing a comprehensive restructuring program that addresses financial stability, management, operations, and employee development. This initiative aims to create a stronger, more sustainable airline capable of thriving in a competitive aviation market.
