Qantas Expands International Routes from Perth: New Flights to Johannesburg and Auckland

Qantas Airways has announced an exciting expansion from its base in Perth, Western Australia, introducing two new international routes to Johannesburg, South Africa, and Auckland, New Zealand. This strategic move, set to launch at the end of 2025, will see Qantas operating three weekly flights to each destination from Perth International Airport (PER), significantly enhancing travel options for Australians and boosting local tourism.

New International Flights from Perth

Starting December 7, 2025, Qantas will commence flights from Perth to Johannesburg, utilizing its Airbus A330-200 aircraft. Each aircraft is configured to accommodate 271 passengers—28 in business class and 227 in economy class. The flight, designated QF65, will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, covering a distance of 5,173 miles (8,277 km) with an approximate flight time of 11 hours and 15 minutes.

In addition, the new route to Auckland will begin on December 8, 2025, with the flight operating as QF111 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. This service will also utilize Airbus A330s, with a flight time of around six hours and 45 minutes.

Alongside the new routes from Perth, Qantas is also set to introduce its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners on daily flights between Brisbane and Los Angeles starting October 2025.
