American Airlines Unveils Exciting New Long-Haul Destinations for Summer 2026
American Airlines has exciting news to share! On August 7, 2025, the airline revealed plans to enhance its international offerings for the summer of 2026 by introducing six new long-haul routes.
A standout addition to this flight schedule is the first-ever nonstop route connecting the United States with Budapest, the charming capital of Hungary.
This new service will commence on May 21, 2026, between Philadelphia (PHL) and Budapest (BUD). Notably, this won’t be the only Central European connection available from American Airlines’ hub in Pennsylvania; on the same date, the airline will also kick off flights from Philadelphia to Prague-Ruzyne (PRG). Both routes will be seasonal initially.
American Airlines is also set to provide year-round nonstop service from Miami (MIA) to Milan-Malpensa (MXP). Additionally, two new seasonal routes will launch from Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) to Zurich (ZRH) and Athens (ATH). The route from Dallas-Fort Worth to Buenos Aires (EZE) will transition to year-round service, continuing through the Southern Hemisphere’s winter.
Most of these new routes will be serviced by Boeing 787-8 aircraft, with the exception of the Zurich route, which will utilize a Boeing 777-200.
In a further enhancement, the Tokyo-Haneda (HND) route will see an increase in premium capacity. Flights from Dallas-Fort Worth will operate daily with a Boeing 777-300ER, while Los Angeles International (LAX) will benefit from twice-daily services using a Boeing 777-200.
With all these developments, which route are you most looking forward to exploring?
