Unruly Passenger Disrupts IndiGo Flight from Delhi to Kolkata

DELHI- On September 1, 2025, an unruly passenger was apprehended upon arrival at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport (CCU) after being aboard IndiGo flight 6E 6571 from Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) in Delhi.

The cabin crew reported that the passenger exhibited disruptive behavior, being intoxicated and causing distress among fellow travelers.

IndiGo Passenger Misbehaves with Attendant

The flight faced a significant delay of three hours on the tarmac in Delhi due to operational issues.

During this time, the passenger, who is reportedly a lawyer, allegedly encouraged fellow passengers to chant “Har Har Mahadev,” inflating tensions on board.

After take-off, when questioned about a soft drink bottle believed to contain alcohol, the passenger quickly consumed the drink’s contents.

IndiGo’s Protocol and Response

The airline reported that the passenger in seat 31D was labeled “unruly” and was subsequently handed over to airport security upon landing.

IndiGo reinforced its policy of zero-tolerance towards unruly behavior, emphasizing its commitment to a secure atmosphere for all passengers and crew members.

The flight, initially scheduled to depart at 7:30 PM, ultimately took off at 10:30 PM and reached Kolkata at 1:09 AM the following day.

In response, the passenger lodged a counter-complaint denying the consumption of alcohol during the flight, asserting that any drinking occurred at Delhi airport before boarding.

He provided a receipt to support his claim. He further argued that his intention while chanting “Har Har Mahadev” was not religious, and he felt singled out.

The passenger also stated that the crew neglected to provide basic services during the delay, threatened him when he recorded videos, and cited financial losses nearing ₹4.8 lakh due to the delay.

Bottom Line

The passenger contended that the crew kept passengers on the aircraft for over three hours without a pilot and failed to provide adequate food during the wait.

He also claimed that flight attendants threatened him with severe consequences.

Authorities in Bidhannagar, Kolkata, have acknowledged complaints from both the airline crew and the passenger involved in this incident.
