New Airline Launches in Chile by GOL and Avianca’s Parent Company
Abra Group, the parent organization of Avianca and GOL, which are two of the largest airlines in Latin America, has reportedly established a new airline in Chile. This news has been highlighted by various local media sources.
The buzz around this development began when an image surfaced online on October 13, 2025, featuring a GOL Boeing 737-800 with a Chilean registration (CC-DNU), labeled “Operated by NG Servicios Aéreos.”
A news report from Chilean aviation site El Aereo indicated that Abra Group officially incorporated a firm in Santiago, Chile, on July 2, 2025, aimed at engaging in air transportation activities.
Aviación Online, another local news source, reported that Abra Group has confirmed its plans to launch a new airline in Chile and has applied for an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) in the country. Initially, the airline is expected to focus on charter and ACMI operations.
As of now, it remains uncertain whether additional aircraft will be part of this new Chilean airline’s fleet.
It’s important to note that Abra Group already has a foothold in the Chilean market, holding a 40% stake in SKY Airline, the nation’s second-largest airline.
Analysts believe that creating a new subsidiary in Chile is part of Abra Group’s broader strategy to strengthen its ownership position, potentially leading to total control of the airline. The group has been working towards increasing its stake in SKY Airline by converting a US$100 million loan, extended to the carrier in 2021, into equity. This loan is set to mature in October 2026.
