Air China Cargo Orders Six A350F Freighters from Airbus
Air China Cargo, a branch of Air China, has finalized a purchase agreement with Airbus for six A350F freighters.
On November 14, 2025, Airbus announced that Air China Cargo became the inaugural customer from mainland China to secure an order for the state-of-the-art A350F model.
Based in Beijing, Air China Cargo proudly serves as China’s exclusive freighter airline carrying the national flag.
“The A350F’s addition to our mixed cargo fleet will enhance operational and maintenance efficiency,” remarked Wang Hongyan, Vice President of Air China Cargo. “This aircraft will bolster our ability to ensure stable long-term operations while managing risks.”
Established in 2003, Air China Cargo operates extensively within China and offers services on 25 international routes that span across Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Americas, and the Middle East.
Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus EVP of Sales for the Commercial Aircraft division, expressed enthusiasm: “We are thrilled to welcome Air China Cargo as a new customer for the A350F. This aircraft will deliver enhanced efficiency, performance, exceptional capacity, and unprecedented loading flexibility, integrating seamlessly into Air China Cargo’s operations.”
As per reports from ch-aviation, Air China Cargo currently operates a fleet that includes a variety of Boeing and Airbus freighters, such as six A330-200P2Fs, three 747-400FSCDs, and 13 777-200Fs.
The A350F, once certified, is set to transport loads up to 111 tons and can cover a distance of 8,700 km, powered by two Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines.
Recent projections from Airbus suggest that the A350F is expected to commence service in 2027, although initially, there were hopes for availability by 2025.
By the end of October 2025, Airbus reported receiving 1,445 orders for the A350 family from 63 customers globally, with 74 orders specifically for the A350F from 12 clients.
Notable companies placing orders for the A350F include lessor AviLease, Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines, Turkish Airlines, and Starlux.
