Lufthansa Celebrates 100 Years with Special Anniversary Fleet Livery
Lufthansa is set to unveil a special commemorative livery on six aircraft as part of its centennial celebrations in 2026, marking 100 years since the airline’s inception in 1926.
The anniversary design features a striking white crane on a blue fuselage, with the bird’s wings extending beautifully onto the aircraft’s own wings. Each aircraft will proudly display “100” on the left side, “1926/2026” on the right, and another “100” on the underside.
Fleet Selection and Timeline
The first aircraft to showcase the special anniversary livery will be a new Boeing 787-9 named “Berlin” (registration D-ABPU), scheduled to land in Frankfurt by December 2025. In addition to the 787-9, five more aircraft types will be adorned with this unique design: an Airbus A380, an A350-1000, an A350-900, an A320, and a Boeing 747-8.
Lufthansa plans to gradually apply this special livery from 2025 through 2026, with all six aircraft expected to be operational by fall 2026.
This selection highlights Lufthansa’s diverse fleet, covering both the narrowbody A320 typically used on European routes and the widebody A380 and 747-8 used for long-haul international flights. The inclusion of both A350 variants underscores the airline’s commitment to modernizing its fleet.
The anniversary livery is set to be featured on scheduled commercial flights throughout 2026, showcasing these beautifully decorated aircraft on their regular routes within Lufthansa’s extensive network.
